Genny May Photography

UI/UX Design - Fine Art Photography Portfolio & E-commerce Experience
Genny May needed more than a portfolio site - she needed a design that could hold decades of travel and wildlife photography, sell fine art prints directly to collectors, and still feel like a quiet, intentional gallery rather than a cluttered online store. We designed the full experience end-to-end in Figma, from homepage to checkout.

The Brief

Core problem

Genny’s work spans landscapes, wildlife, and travel photography built up over decades – the site needed to organize that into browsable collections, sell prints in multiple formats and sizes, and still read as a personal, story-driven body of work rather than a generic stock-photo storefront.

Why an off-the-shelf approach couldn't solve it

A templated portfolio theme or a generic Shopify skin couldn’t hold the specific structure this needed: nested collections and sub-collections, a blog split across two distinct content types (Reflections vs. Photo Essays), and a print-buying flow with type, size, and framing options – all while keeping the visual language calm and photography-first.

Pull-quote

The hardest part wasn’t designing a beautiful gallery – it was designing a gallery that could also check out a customer without breaking the mood.

How it reached NextEnvision

Delivered full white label through a digital agency partner – NextEnvision had no direct contact with the end client.

What We Built

MODULE

1

Portfolio & Collection Architecture

A browsable structure spanning Landscapes, Wildlife, and Travel, each with their own sub-collections (e.g. African Animals, Birds, Other Encounters) and individual location-based galleries.

  • Homepage, top-level collection pages, and nested sub-collection browsing
  • Consistent full-bleed photography treatment across every gallery view
MODULE

2

Fine Art Print E-commerce Flow

A complete buying journey for physical prints, designed around real print-fulfillment decisions rather than a generic “buy now” button.

  • Product detail pages with print type (Print Only / Acrylic / Framed) and size selection
  • Cart, discount code, and checkout flow, including Klarna installment-payment support
  • Account/profile, order history, and settings screens
MODULE

Editorial & Story Content

A two-track blog system separating short-form Reflections from long-form Photo Essays, plus a dedicated About page built around Genny’s personal story and process.
