TCG & Collectible Drop Alert Platform -

THE BRIEF

A UK-based collectibles business had built a strong community of Pokemon, TCG, and sneaker collectors through Discord and social media. They needed a proper mobile application to replace their manual alert systems — one that could deliver real-time drop notifications, restock alerts, and live price data at scale to thousands of subscribers.

The agency partner engaged NextEnvision to build the entire platform from scratch — iOS app, Android app, real-time alert engine, subscription billing, community features, and backend infrastructure. The result is a live consumer application on both the Apple App Store and Google Play with hundreds of active ratings. The end client never engaged with NextEnvision directly.

THE CHALLENGES

Consumer alert apps live or die on speed and reliability. A drop notification that arrives 30 seconds late is worthless. Building a real-time alert engine that could handle thousands of concurrent users, across multiple retailers simultaneously, on both iOS and Android, was the central engineering challenge of this project.
Sub-Second Alert Delivery at Scale

Drop alerts must reach thousands of users within seconds of a product going live. A notification arriving late means a user misses the drop. Engineering a push infrastructure that could handle simultaneous mass delivery without queuing delays.

Real-Time Stock Monitoring Across Multiple Retailers

Monitoring stock availability across dozens of UK and international retailers simultaneously — each with different website structures, rate limits, and anti-bot measures — without false positives or missed restocks.

Subscription Billing and In-App Purchase Compliance

Both Apple App Store and Google Play have strict requirements around subscription billing, trial periods, cancellation flows, and refund policies. Engineering compliant billing that passed both store reviews first time.

Community Features at Consumer Scale

Live chat, member alerts, expert tips, and community discussion all running in the same application as the alert engine. Isolating community load from alert delivery to ensure notifications were never delayed by social feature activity.

User Preference and Alert Personalisation

Each subscriber has different interests — Pokemon vs Magic vs sneakers vs electronics. Building a preference engine that filtered and routed alerts to the right users without sending irrelevant notifications that drove unsubscribes.

App Store Approval with Subscription Monetisation

Consumer apps with subscription billing and alert content face additional scrutiny during App Store review. Engineering the app to meet both Apple and Google review requirements while preserving the core product experience.
